Profile

Milena Viceconte is Lecturer in Art History at the University of Lleida (Spain).

After obtained her PhD in 2013 at the University of Naples Federico II – in cotutela with the University of Barcelona-, she has been a research fellow within the project ERC project DisComPoSE Disasters, Communication and Politics in Southwestern Europe: the Making of Emergency Response Policies in the Early Modern Age (www.discompose.unina.it/), focusing in particular on the study of the imagery of disasters in the modern age.

She currently collaborates with several Italian and Spanish research groups, including the PRIN project VeLoCi The Vesuvian Lost Cities before the ‘Discovery’. Sources, Experience, Imagery in Early Modern Period at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” (https://velociproject.org/), in which she deals with the analysis of figurative sources regarding the cities buried by the eruption of 79 A.D.
