Rocco Sciarrone

Rocco Sciarrone is full professor of Economic Sociology at the Department of Cultures, Politics and Society, University of Turin, where he teaches Sociology of Mafias and Regulation Processes and Criminal Networks. He is director of Larco (Laboratory of Analysis and Research on Organized Crime); co-director of «Meridiana», deputy director of «Cambio» and member of the steering committee of «Stato e mercato». He is the Rector’s delegate for the University of Turin’s Prison Pole. He is also president of SISMA – Italian Scientific Society of Mafias and Anti-Mafia Studies.
He has conducted and coordinated several researches on mafia phenomena, with particular reference to the themes of the intersections between the mafia and the legal economy, the gray area and collusion relations, the processes of expansion into non-traditional areas and the mechanisms of reproduction of mafia networks.
