Irene Iacuitto

Irene Iacuitto is a Technologist at the Institute for Studies on the Mediterranean (CNR-ISMed).
She holds a degree in International Development and Cooperation from the University of Naples “L’Orientale”, where she conducted ethnographic research in an immigration detention centre for foreign women. Her work has focused on migration policies, border externalization, and methodologies for collecting migrants’ life histories.
From 2017 to 2026, she worked as a Project Manager for European projects (ERC and Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions) at the Institute of Nanotechnology (CNR-NANOTEC) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR).
At CNR-ISMed, her activities and research interests focus on contemporary migration studies, exploring the social and political transformations that shape migration processes.
