Abstract

Reconstruction and study of collecting contexts in Sicily and Southern Italy, not only as sets of objects, but also of ideas, practices and choices implemented by collectors, with special attention to the Biscari and Benedictine collections in Catania in the 18th century and to the historical collections of the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Recognition and study of the archaeological contexts of origin of the musealized objects traceable to Catania and the Vesuvian cities.  

Objectives

The project aims at the knowledge, preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage, especially historical-archaeological and book heritage, of the examined contexts as well as the dissemination of results for the active involvement of communities.
