Profile

Stefania Bertolazzi is a PhD candidate in “Mediterranean Studies. History, Law & Economics” at the Libera Università Maria Santissima Assunta (LUMSA) in Palermo since December 2021.

She earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations, specializing in International Trade, from the University of Palermo in 2021, graduating with honors. She also completed the Master in Diplomacy at the Institute for International Political Studies (ISPI) in Milan in 2022.

Throughout her career, she has gained extensive international experience, including an academic mobility program at the École Supérieure Angevine d’Informatique et de Productique (ESAIP) in France and an Erasmus Plus program at the Universität Siegen in Germany. She has also worked in multicultural professional contexts, such as an internship at the Italian Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia, and a role supporting the Legal Clinic for Human Rights (CLEDU) in Palermo.

Stefania has participated as a speaker in international conferences, including the Fourth ICES PICES Early Career Scientist Conference in St. John’s (Canada) and the XIV ESEE Conference in Pisa (Italy), where she engaged with researchers from around the world.

Her research focuses on topics related to political economy, international relations, and marine environments, with a particular interest in circular economy and sustainability.

Projects

• Participation in the project “Pesca Plastica – ISMed-CNR” aimed at developing a virtuous model for the management and utilization of marine waste within the circular economy framework

• Contribution to the “ENI CBC MED Programme C_A.2.2_0012 CARISMED” project, focusing on the identification of existing best practices to propose innovative models for repurposing abandoned spaces in degraded urban areas. Tasks included designing tailored questionnaires and analyzing the collected data
