Profile

Roberto Micera has been a Senior Researcher of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) since 2021, currently he is at the Institute for Studies on the Mediterranean (ISMed).

He has National Qualification for the role of Associate Professor in Management (13/B2)and he is PhD in Business Administration. He holds a Master’s Degree in Economics of Tourism from the University Luigi Bocconi in Milan and a visiting scholar from the Fisher College of Ohio State University.

He has been scientific coordinator for the CNR of tourism research projects and he is in the team of numerous international and national research activities on the management and organization of innovation in tourism enterprises and destinations (smart tourism destination).

The main scientific interests are about the management of innovation in firms and networks of tourism enterprises, destination management, destination governance, the competitiveness of destinations and the impact generated by innovation on tourism supply systems and smart tourism.

In 2016 he was a member of the “direction cabin” between CNR and MIBACT, with tasks of management and integrated coordination of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Tourism 2017-2022.

From 2016 to 2019 he was editor of the “Rapporto sul Turismo Italiano”.

He is a member of the Editorial Team of European Journal of Applied Economics, ITivista, Rivista Internazionale, Tourism & Spirituality Journal, Technological Audit and Production Reserves, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Technology, Science Journal of Business and Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management International Journal, Ottoman: Journal of Tourism and management research and Journal of Economic and Administrative Sciences.

He is reviewer for many scientific journals, like: Sustainability, Tourism Review, International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management, Current Issues in Tourism, British Food Journal, European Journal of Тourism Research, International Journal of Tourism Cities, Journal of Information and Knowledge Management e Te.ma. Journal of Land Use, Mobility and Environment

He was professor in Innovation Management and in Business Ethics at the University Unitelma-Sapienza of Rome.

Actually, he teaches Territorial Marketing at the University of Basilicata, where he was professor of Tourism Destination Management and Marketing.

He teaches in master’s degrees, advanced training courses and specialization courses on the topics of Tourism Management and Marketing.

He has also many job assignments in the tourism sector and in corporate management working with businesses, organizations, associations and local tourism operators.
