A researcher in the economic history of southern Italy in the modern and contemporary ages, Ilaria Zilli is the author of numerous essays and monographs on the structure and transformations of southern public finance between the 17th and 18th centuries. 

After taking up her post at the University of Molise in 1993, her research interests broadened to include the socio-economic dynamics of Molise between the 19th and 20th centuries, on which she has published her last two monographs as well as numerous essays and articles. His research interests have developed over the years along different lines:

  • Public finance and its evolution in the modern Mezzogiorno;
  • The economic and social history of the Mezzogiorno between the modern and contemporary ages;
  • The history of industry;
  • The history of tourism;
  • Food history.
