Profile

Researcher at CNR-ISMed. Degree in Philosophy (cum laude) “Orientale” University of Naples 1998, Degree in Humanities, Arts (cum laude) University of Naples ‘Federico II’ 1990; PhD Economic History. His research has involved the social-economic history of the Kingdom of Naples focusing on communities, guilds, banking history and other social phenomena in the Modern Age in the Mediterranean view. He published main studies about the history of printing, and a recent reflection on the links between the earthquake and history, within the interdisciplinary framework of Natural Hazards and the memory of communities. He has approached environmental history, tourism and cultural heritage with attention to humanities and visual culture. He is responsible for the ISMed research line The Mezzogiorno in the history of the Mediterranean, and a member of the ISMed project Remedies project for the depopulation of the inland areas of Basilicata. He was the project manager for “Assistance and solidarity framework in historical perspective. Italy and Moldova: a comparative study”, CNR-Issm/Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova (bilateral agreement CNR/Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Moldova, 2018-19), and participated to bilateral projects with Romanian, Hungarian, Bulgarian, Moldovan academic institutions partners. He Joined COST – Action “Underground Built Heritage as catalyser for Community Valorisation” (Underground4value). He is a member of the EAA – European Association of Archaeologists and was affiliated with scientific associations such as the RSA – Renaissance Society of America. Winner of a Short Mobility CNR with the research proposal Travel and Pilgrimage between Chivalrous Ideals and Hospitality (Mediterranean Institute, University of Malta (2019), presented the research results at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Renaissance Society of America, RSA 2019 Toronto, then published into an international series. 

Hobbies: 

  • environmental themes and underwater archaeology (scuba diver) 
  • multiculturalism and education, sport (member F.I.T.A. – Italian Taekwondo Federation).
