Antonio Bertini he graduated in Architecture in 1981. From 1982 to 1998 he collaborated in the courses of Town Planning I and II held by prof. Arturo Rigillo at the Faculty of Architecture of Naples “Federico II”.

In 1984 he was recognized as a “visiting lecturer in Urban Planning” by the Council of the Faculty of Architecture and later took part in the session of exams and graduation, as co-rapporteur, about 10 thesis in Town Planning.

Since 1987 he has participated in the research activities of the Department of Planning and Soil Science of the Faculty of Engineering of the ” Federico II ” being part of a research team led by prof . Corrado Beguinot on technological innovation and territorial transformations .

After a two-year study and many meetings with the Russian scientific community, in 1991 he published the book “The Soviet city” that was presented at an international conference held in Naples. In 1991 he won the scholarship of the Foundation Ivo Vanzi on town plan and technological innovation, the results of which were collected in a printed volume.

From 1993 until 1994 he was a member of the research team on the study of the habitat of Tunisia whose results were published in a book where Antonio Bertini oversaw a deepening urban metropolitan area of Tunis and the peninsula of Cap Bon.

In 1994, after winning the competition for CNR researcher, he took part in the research on the Mediterranean city and the protection of nature in an urban context. Since then, his research topics favorite dwell on the analysis of cities and territories of the Mediterranean, on the relationship between the natural protected areas, the towns and local communities. He edited numerous essays on these topics.

He recently edited, together with Domenico Nicoletti, Giovanni Fulvio Russo and Tiziana Vitolo the book entitled “Protected areas in Italy. The case of Campania”, published by Rubbettino in September of 2015.
