ELA Doctorate Workshop 2025 call for proposal

The 29th ELA Doctorate Workshop of the European Logistics Association (ELA) will take place in Naples, (Italy), from June 18th to 21st, 2025. The workshop is organised by the Institute of Mediterranean Studies (ISMed) in collaboration with the Department of Human Science of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Universities are invited to nominate one doctoral student with an original and relevant research project in the management of logistics, broadly defined. 20 doctoral students will be selected to participate in the workshop and will present their projects discusses by a panel of distinguished European logistics professors.

The CNR-ISMed, Palermo office, at Divination EXPO 2024

Researchers from the Palermo branch of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council (CNR-ISMed) will participate in Divination EXPO 2024, an exhibition of Italian excellence in the sector organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty and Forestry in Syracuse from 21 to 29 September 2024, in the context of the G7-Agriculture and Fisheries. The programme includes a conference organised on 26 September (from 7 to 8.30 p.m.) in collaboration with the Sicilian Region’s Mediterranean Fisheries Department on climate change and relations with biological resources.

The second edition of the “CNR Prize for Citizen Science: Guglielmo Marconi Library” kicks off

Applications are now open for the second edition of the "CNR Prize for Citizen Science: Guglielmo Marconi Library", the initiative that aims to enhance and support public engagement initiatives involving citizens and scientists in collaborative research activities. Applications are open until Monday 11 November to public or private research bodies (with registered offices in Italy) and non-profit organisations.

Second SISAm conference in September in collaboration with CNR-ISMed

From 26 to 28 September 2024, the second national conference of the Italian Society of Environmental History will be held in Naples at the Department of Humanistic Studies of the Federico II University (via Porta di Massa campus), entitled “Italian Environmental History from Ancient to Contemporary Times. Themes, sources and methods“, promoted and organised together with the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council.

Online the new CNR-ISMed Catalogue 2024

The new Catalogue 2024 has been published on the CNR-ISMed website, available in PDF format. The catalogue contains all up-to-date information about the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (ISMed) and it is is accompanied by data providing a detailed and concise picture of the current situation of ISMed, which is undergoing a phase of great growth and expansion, both in research and in collaboration with the main players in the social sciences and humanities.

CNR-ISMed at the Fifteenth National Statistics Conference

In the Poster CNS15 session of #CNStatistica15, dedicated to Cooperation and statistical initiatives in partnership with Istat, presentation of the ongoing activities for the realisation of the new portal WeMed: an information framework for the enlarged Mediterranean countries. The work is part of an operational agreement between CNR-ISMed and Istat activated last June 2023, with the aim of carrying out study and research activities and projects on cross-cutting issues of mutual interest using interdisciplinary, geostatistical and econometric methodologies, scientific publications, events and seminars for the valorisation of the results.

Oceanographic mission in the Mediterranean on the Gaia Blu ship with CNR-ISMed

The CNR ship “Gaia Blu” left Naples on Saturday 29 June for an oceanographic mission in the Mediterranean in which the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (CNR-ISMed) is participating. The overall objective, as part of the TUNSIC-BANSIC 2024 scientific expedition, is to collect data and information to monitor the presence and reproduction of two marine species that are very present in the Mediterranean and heavily exploited by man: bluefin tuna and anchovies.
