Locandina "La ricerca fa centro!"

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council (CNR-ISMed) is taking part in the European Researchers’ Night 2024 with the Project “From the Mediterranean to the Oceans”, as part of the activities proposed by Co.Science – Meet Research To Connect Science And Society, a European project led by the “Giulio Natta” Institute of Chemical Sciences and Technologies (CNR-SCITEC).

LABORATORY DESCRIPTION. The Mediterranean is a road of moving waters on which millennia-old routes meet and cross. On these routes men of different cultures have exchanged and shared knowledge, experiences and varied perceptions of the world. On this road a powerful and unstoppable process of interculturality, knowledge, growth and integration takes place. The Mediterranean is the heart of an interminable journey whose routes have also turned to the Oceans, and the men who have travelled them mark and accompany the becoming of history, culture and society. Between these geographical poles – political, social, economic – centuries of history, relations and cultural transformations are intertwined, declined along the multiple directions of literary representations, evangelisation and migrations.

OBJECTIVES. With the activities proposed during the European Researchers’ Night, the aim of the workshop proposed by the Milan branch of the CNR-ISMed is to bring citizens closer to humanistic research, which is little recognised, by making them discover that social, historical and literary studies have a daily impact on reality and the progress of society. The study of the past lays the foundations for understanding the present and the challenges of the future.
