Contemporary Italy is characterised by the presence and overlapping of numerous and articulated migratory flows. The seminar, which opens the second edition of the cycle “Beyond disciplinary barriers – the ISMed as a research laboratory”, aims at reconstructing the main historical trends of mobility phenomena starting from the years immediately following the Second World War and reaching the present day. Is it possible to construct an integrated view of these different experiences, thus overcoming the traditional partitions that have long marked historical and social science studies?
THE SPEAKER. Michele Colucci, first CNR-ISMed researcher and head of the Rome office, coordinates CNR research activities in History of Migration. He teaches History of Migrations at Roma Tre University. A member of the teaching board of the PhD in Historical Sciences and Cultural Heritage at the University of Tuscia, he is the author of numerous scientific publications dedicated to contemporary history on the themes of mobility, labour, and social policies. He has received awards and prizes for his research activities, including the “Premio nazionale divulgazione scientifica”, Human Sciences section in 2019. He participates in various editorial initiatives, including editing the journal “Meridiana” and scientific coordination of the series Nodi dell’Italia repubblicana at the publisher Carocci.
