Presentation of the research report

Viale I° Maggio n.1
16 September 2024 9.30 a.m.
The conference will present the results of the research report on the depopulation of the inland areas of Basilicata: possible remedies for the reversal of migration flows, which has seen ISMed and UNISA researchers engaged in the specialised scientific debate, but at the same time inter/transdisciplinary, on the depopulation of the Region’s inland/marginal areas in the wake of a framework of European, national and regional policies aimed at counteracting/mitigating socio-economic-cultural-demographic impoverishment with targeted actions for territorial revitalisation. The key words of the project: depopulation, inland areas, Basilicata gradually see their semantic meaning change, meaning rather new, generative potential, opportunities for the territories
The papers address the topics of interest from various angles: historical-economic and social, cultural heritage and tourism, socio-psychological insight, mobility and good practices. The papers by the authors of the research will be followed by testimonials, experiences narrated by the protagonists of positive actions of territorial regeneration.

INFO AND CONTACTS
RAI-TGR Basilicata’s 16 September 2024 2 p.m. report on the conference held in Acerenza (PZ) for the presentation of the Research Report on Remedies to the depopulation of the inland areas of Basilicata, by CNR-ISMed and the University of Salerno, DISA-MIS Department, coordinated by the scientific director Elisa Di Giovanni, CNR-ISMed.
Many topics were covered: from migratory flows to rural spaces, from cultural heritage to community cooperation, from the specificities of rural health to regenerative tourism, passing through individual case studies, good practices and the Spanish experiences conducted by the University and the Deputation of Valencia (Spain).
Mobility and lack of work are the main causes that lead to “emigration” from small towns and rural villages, a trend that can be reversed by investing in the planning of appropriate strategies aimed at two specific target communities: foreigners and young recent graduates.
