The June 2, 2026, edition of TGR Basilicata featured a report on the anniversary of the 1946 institutional referendum, with a focus on Rionero in Vulture—the hometown of Giustino Fortunato—where the Republic prevailed with 57% of the vote.

Guiding the RAI troupe through the town’s historical archives was CNR-ISMed fellow Alessandro Agosta, who recalled Rionero’s long anti-fascist tradition—its community having been the victim of violence and massacres from 1922 to 1943—and highlighted the contribution that Southern Italy made to the establishment of the Republic and the advancement of democracy in Italy.
