The eight essays that make up this volume trace the history of the relationship between the Italian Communist Party and migratory movements during the 20th century. The authors reconstruct visions and policies elaborated within Italian Communism and the Left in the face of phenomena such as the emigration of Italians abroad, internal mobility and foreign immigration, demonstrating how, in many cases, migration has been a topic of great importance for the Communist world in Italy.
Taken as a whole, the contributions take into consideration the entire long history of the PCI, from its foundation to its dissolution, and propose innovative elements with the intention of arriving at a periodization of the party’s complex relationship with the migratory movements that affected the scenario of our country during the 20th century.
