Grow old while working? Why not?
If workers were asked to express an opinion on this issue today, many might respond with little enthusiasm. However, the phenomenon of an ageing population in Europe is forcing governments to reconsider employment and pension policies.
This contribution, which is part of the PNRR project Age-it: Ageing Well in An Ageing Society, proposes an innovative methodology based on artificial intelligence, capable of identifying the needs of older workers. The aim is to provide specific guidelines to policy makers for the creation of personalised policies, both in type and intensity.
The presented app represents a prototype of a tool that could be developed from data collected through surveys conducted among older workers. This approach aims at encouraging a longer stay in the labour market by enabling individuals to make decisions that improve their satisfaction with their work-life balance.
The app can be tested during the XXXVIII edition of Futuro Remoto “CO-SCIENZE”, as part of the event “Silver future: Awareness, research and action in an ageing society“, to be held on 19 and 20 October 2024 at Città della Scienza in Naples, co-organised by the Department of Human and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage of the National Research Council (CNR-DSU), the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (CNR-ISMed), the Institute for Research on Sustainable Economic Growth (CNR-IRCrES) and the Institute for Research on Population and Social Policies (CNR-IRPSS), and is part of the activities of the PNRR Age-IT project.
