The seminars will close with a round table attended by scholars of Greek orality and epic traditions.

On the second day organised in Rome with cuntist Gaspare Balsamo. Participants include Riccardo Palmisciano, Principal Invertigator of the PRIN 2022 project and Associate Professor at the University of Naples ‘L’Orientale’; Laura Lulli, Associate Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of L’Aquila; Manuela Giordano, Associate Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of Siena; Massimo Giuseppetti, Associate Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of Roma Tre and Livio Sbardella, Full Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of L’Aquila.

The theme of the day will be the comparison with the Sicilian cunto, an example of a still living practice of traditional storytelling, through which it is possible to try to understand, by analogy, the workings of other ‘traditional tales’, including the epos of Greek culture in the archaic and classical periods: performance modes, characteristics of the language of art, apprenticeship and poetic discipline, storytelling techniques, relationship with the audience, organisation of poetic matter, configuration of a traditional ‘memory’, tension between innovation and preservation.
