Food and wine as a strategic resource
for the sustainable development of creative cities and Mediterranean tourist destinations
BMT – Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo
Mostra d’Oltremare, Sala Tirreno (Pad. 6)
Viale Kennedy, 54

16 March 2024 2.00 p.m.
As part of the BMT in Naples, CNR-ISMed organised a discussion on the theme of food and wine as a driver for the development of Mediterranean destinations. Food and wine, in fact, is increasingly taking on a role of identity representation of tourist territories, becoming the glue between history, local production, culture and the sociality of places. Destinations that know how to enhance and reinterpret their food and wine traditions in an innovative and creative way can count on more sustainable development and improved competitiveness.
These are the assumptions at the basis of the volume Evolving the perspectives on the value of gastronomy for Mediterranean destination development of the book series “Tourism studies on the Mediterranean Region”, whose main results will be presented during the event. To discuss the topic, will be present editors and guest editors, in addition to academics, operators and policy makers who will present good practices and critically discuss the challenges and criticality of the enogastronomy to support the growth of tourism, sector more and more strategic for the economies of our country and region region of the Mediterranean
