Themes and methods of environmental history in the 20th and 21st centuries

CNR-ISMed, the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the University of Salerno and the Italian Society of Environmental History (SISAm) are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the first summer school “Environment as History. Themes and methods of environmental history in the 20th and 21st centuries”. The school will be held in the municipality of Brienza, in the province of Potenza, from 28 September to 1 October 2025.
The call is aimed at graduates and undergraduates of master’s degree programmes in historical sciences working in the field of environmental history, adopting interdisciplinary and intersectional approaches and perspectives. The aim of the school is to build a network of scholarly relations with respect to the actors, themes, methods and scales (spatial, temporal and political) characterising environmental history.
The organisation will cover the costs of accommodation and a daily meal, while travel costs will be borne by the participants.
Selected candidates will be provided with a certificate of participation at the end of the school.
