Profile

Marco Torri is a researcher at CNR-ISMed since 2022 and carries out his activity in the field of marine ecology.

He graduated with honors in Marine Sciences at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2012. He is PhD in Environmental Biology and Biodiversity, with focus in Animal Biology since 2017.

His research interests concern the understanding of the ecological mechanisms involving ecologically and commercially important fish species during the different phases of their life cycle. In the context of biological resource management, he has devoted specific attention to the ecology of the early stages of the fish life cycle (eggs and larvae) using Lagrangian simulation models in order to clarify the link between the dynamics involving these critical stages and recruitment into the adult population.

His research also concerns the assessment of the state of marine biodiversity in SIN areas characterized by intense anthropogenic impact.

During his career he has had the opportunity to carry out international conferences, courses and experiences abroad, including in the United States at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), Massachusetts, USA.

Over the years he has been able to develop specific skills in the field of data analysis in R environment, through methods of geostatistics, machine learning and multivariate statistics models.
