This international workshop is organized within the framework of the project “National Biodiversity Future Center – NBFC”, funded under the Italian National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), promoted by the Italian Ministry of University and Research, and supported by the European Union – NextGenerationEU.

The event aims to bring together researchers, economists, data scientists, and policy practitioners working in the field of Input-Output (I-O) analysis, fostering a multidisciplinary exchange of methodologies and applications that address both theoretical and policy-relevant questions. In particular, the workshop will provide a platform to explore the role of I-O models and data frameworks in understanding and promoting sustainable productivity, income distribution, and the Blue economy, within the broader context of ecological transition and biodiversity conservation.

Key topics will include, but are not limited to:

  • The construction, harmonization, and application of regional supply and use tables to capture territorial dynamics;
  • The development of national commodity–industry investment matrices and their role in productivity and structural changes analysis;
  • I-O based approaches for modeling the Blue economy, with a focus on the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources;
  • The use of I-O frameworks in evaluating policy scenarios, supporting circular economy strategies, and guiding the green and blue transitions.

By encouraging dialogue between methodological and applied research, the workshop seeks to contribute to the refinement of I-O tools for evidence-based decision-making. Special attention will be given to case studies, data innovations, and collaborative approaches that can inform science-based policy and contribute to the strategic objectives of the NBFC.
