Exile, immigration and solidarity 50 years after the coup d’état in Chile

In the day after the coup d’état in Chile, thousands of Chilean citizens were forced into exile. Many of them found refuge and welcome in Rome and Italy. Fifty years after the events of 1973, the meeting proposes historical interventions and direct testimonies focused on the experience of Chilean immigration.

At the end of the meeting, the Roman branch of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council (CNR-ISMed) will be inaugurated, which will be located in the Marconi Library, reinforcing the collaboration between the CNR and the Libraries of Rome that has been in place for some time, based precisely on the dissemination of the history of migration.
