On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the massacre of the Fosse Ardeatine a study day to focus on the history of resistance from the perspective of immigration.
A large part of the victims of the massacre were linked to migratory routes, in a city like Rome characterised since the end of the 19th century by large and substantial immigration movements. The connection between partisan resistance and migration is a varied theme that concerns not only Rome and Italy, but all of Europe. The aim of the day is to explore this connection, starting from the national and international context and arriving at the Roman case. The initiative will be held at the Mandela Library and at the Historical Museum of Liberation in Via Tasso, in an area – the San Giovanni area – strongly engaged in the struggle for liberation in 1943-44.
