The project on the Tourism of Origins (2024) of the Directorate General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies of the Farnesina will be an opportunity to recover and valorise the stories that have forced millions of Italians to leave their country for a job far from their homeland.
The conference organised on this theme by the Municipality of Procida and the Institute of Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council (CNR-ISMed) on 20 July at 7 pm in Procida, will compare experts who from different angles have tackled and developed the theme of the return journey. In this segment of the voyage there is a stream that has been active for a few years now on the history of those Procidan sailors and coral workers who, having left Procida in the second half of the 19th century, arrived on the coasts of Africa and in Algeria and then settled in France in the 1960s.
