On February 4, 2025, at the ISMed premises in Naples, Alessandra Cioppi, Alberto Guasco and Patrizia Spinato will retrace the history of the foundation of the Milan branch which, for more than thirty years, thanks to its scientific heritage but also to the evolution of the disciplinary areas and projects carried out by the research team, occupies a place of excellence in the study of Iberian and Spanish-American literature from the pre-Columbian era to the present day, and in Italo-Iberian and Ibero-American historical studies from the medieval, modern and contemporary ages to the present day. A tradition that aims to dialogue with some of the research lines present in ISMed.

The research group of the Milan office, in conserva with the University of Milan, designs and carries out literary and historical studies in the framework of disciplinary fields such as the becoming of the cultural identity of the countries bordering the western Mediterranean and their projections towards the Atlantic world; the relationships, reciprocal influences and cultural transformations between these, declined along the multiple directions of literary representations and social aspects; the evolution and impact of these dynamics through archive documents, chronicle, essayistic and artistic productions; historical-religious studies and evangelisation; migrations and their imagery, in a continuous context of material and ideological exchanges. The researchers during the meeting will illustrate current lines of research and studies in progress, projects and national and international collaborations.
