The condition of the Rom and Sinti population is interrogated through a diachronic perspective. Starting from the socio-economic problems and social marginality that characterise this part of the population living in Italy, historians, activists and policy-makers discuss the issue of the stratified discrimination of Rom and Sinti over time and the instruments used to combat it.
The meeting analyses, in particular, the persecution of Rom and Sinti during Fascism, the school integration projects promoted by activists operating in the area investigated by the research and their effectiveness for social inclusion, together with the current policies promoted within the Municipality of Padua, where the presence of Rom and Sinti communities is rooted and where school integration projects have been implemented over time.
