Today sees the start of the first edition of the Mediterranean Book Festival, a literary festival and cultural event aimed at a wide audience, with book presentations, theatrical performances, musical concerts and entertainment shows in Piazza Crocicchia in Aspra, a hamlet of Bagheria. The aim of the festival is to represent a meeting place for the cultures of the Mediterranean peoples, a square for cultural exchange and growth, with the main mission of spreading the culture of books.
On Sunday 22 June, the volume edited by the Institute for Mediterranean Studies of the National Research Council (CNR-ISMed) “Mediterranean Economies 2024. The new agenda for the Mediterranean: perspectives and challenges” in the presence of the Director of the Department of Human and Social Sciences, Cultural Heritage (CNR-Dsu) Salvatore Capasso.
Mornings on the beach with experts from CNR-ISMed and WWF will be dedicated to the very young to learn about and respect the coastal marine environment. The “monologue on the sea” literary competition will also be addressed to them and will end with the next edition of the festival.
The Mediterranean book festival will give space to emerging authors, poets and artists, and publishers, acting as a meeting point between these realities, but also to researchers and scientists, who study the economy, ecology, history and societies of the Mediterranean.
