The Institute for Studies on the Mediterranean of the CNR in Naples has since the 1990s observed and monitored the policies implemented by the City of Naples in relation to different areas: from interventions on deindustrialization to those aimed at curbing land consumption, from those directed at implementing public transportation to policies for the recovery of the historic center, from the fight against organized crime to that aimed at curbing environmental illegality, from measures to deal with the tragic phase of the garbage emergency to the introduction of the Metropolitan City. In recent years, particularly after the dramatic phase of COVID 19, Naples has experienced new emergencies such as the extraordinary growth of the tourist phenomenon, the gentrification of the historic center, the development of new poverty, the intensification of migration flows, and the transformation of criminal phenomena.
In line with the issues and projects already underway, CNR-ISMed invites Deputy Mayor Laura Lieto to hold a conversation between research and institutions, on issues related to environmental, social, economic and many others of great interest and topicality that affect the city of Naples. A conversation in which the vision that guides the policies implemented by the City of Naples and intended to address new issues opens up to the world of research and public debate, in a propulsive role geared toward the growth and well-being of society. The deputy mayor will discuss this with environmental historian and director of the CNR Institute for Mediterranean Studies Gabriella Corona and agronomist and expert in the analysis and planning of agroforestry and landscape resources Antonio di Gennaro.
