Signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Research Council, the National Institute for Infectious Diseases 'Lazzaro Spallanzani', the Lazio Region, the Ministry of University and Research and the Ministry of Health for actions in the fight against Covid-19.
"The Memorandum of Understanding signed between the National Research Council, the National Institute for Infectious Diseases 'Lazzaro Spallanzani', the Lazio Region, the Ministry of University and Research and the Ministry of Health confirms the synergy between government institutions and research and treatment structures as the winning axis to face the current health emergency and as a model with which Italy is showing the world its determination and cohesion in the battle against Covid-19. Cnr and Spallanzani, as implementing subjects of the Protocol, are committed to launching more and more intense and innovative activities aimed at facing the epidemiological crisis, in order to identify as soon as possible an effective vaccine against the virus. Research is the pivot on which we must build the future, not only the immediate one that has as its goal the exit from the health crisis," says CNR President Massimo Inguscio. "We need to get used to consider the current strategy as the paradigm of a new cultural, social, political approach, based on the collaboration of multidisciplinary skills and that between stakeholders and citizenship, Covid-19 is teaching us that we need to provide the nation with a strategy and that the freedom of research must always be guaranteed but must not result in a fragmentation of resources and initiatives. Projects of national interest directed by politics express the common will to build, together with science, a community capable of protection and progress. Many times we have talked about the Italian need to make a system: now there is no more time to discuss it, we must realize it".
