After the opening conference last November and the cycle of territorial meetings in six neighborhood libraries, the project "150 Years of Immigration in Roma Capitale. History, memory, territories" has reached the second conference of the cycle, dedicated to the period between 1945 and today. The years of reconstruction and popular neighborhood councils, of the great immigration from the South, of building speculation and of the development of today's Rome, of the suburbs and residential complexes, of the intertwining of traditional professions and new figures of mobility, of the growth and consolidation of foreign immigration will be analyzed.
The specific themes of mobility in the Capital will be read in the light of broader issues, fundamental for understanding the history of contemporary Italy: the process of decolonization, the role of the middle class and manual workers, the evolution of personal services, neighborhood mobilizations, the generational aspect, the territorial presence of religions, the reflections of social processes in literature.
The event, organized by CNR-ISMed and Biblioteche di Roma, will take place live online on the Facebook pages of the organizers and in presence, for a limited number of people, in the prestigious Sala Protomoteca of the Campidoglio in Rome.
