As part of the Páginas de literatura cycle, the annual seminar dedicated to literary relations between Europe and Latin America organised by Patrizia Spinato and Renata Bruschi aims to commemorate the Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral (Vicuña 1889 – Hempstead 1957) on the eightieth anniversary of her receiving the Nobel Prize, the first for literature in Latin America: «su obra lírica […], inspirada en poderosas emociones, ha convertido su nombre en un símbolo de las aspiraciones idealistas de todo el mundo iberoamericano». As usual, we have invited a number of international specialists to speak at the study day, to revisit the figure of Lucila de María Godoy Alcayaga from the perspective of cultural relations between the Old and New Worlds, of which she was an official representative in various international organisations from the 1920s onwards.
