The talk focuses on the long history of environmental movements in Italy, beginning in the 1960s and continuing through to 1990. The Chernobyl disaster marked a major turning point, but to understand its full significance, it is essential to trace the deep roots of environmental activism.
The speaker. Luigi Piccioni teaches economic history at the University of Calabria. He is editor-in-chief of the digital journal ‘altronovecento. ambiente tecnica società’, vice-president of the Italian Society for the History of Fauna, and a member of the executive committee of the Italian Society for Environmental History.
