Summary

The research project SNECS, Social Network of the Entities of the Historical Centres, aims to collect and transmit the contents of scientific knowledge of artistic, archaeological, literary, historical-philosophical character on the territory of Campania, with particular emphasis on the historical centres, activating and experimenting with new strategies for their representation, organization, diffusion and promotion based on paradigms of technological intelligence, which represent the challenges of Smart cities and Smart environment, which the European community asks to take up. Places and spaces need an intelligence capable of withstanding the challenge of a competition that, by understanding the cultural affinities of its territory more decisively, is present on a national and global scale, strengthening the evocative power of places and symbols, through a reformulation and reinvention of the ways of telling the story of places based on new forms of identity and sociality. The technological equipment, composed of networks, cloud computing, open data and distributed sensors, represents the enabling factor, certainly indispensable for the construction of ecosystems.
